Class A+ recycled water

We supply Class A+ recycled water to residential users within certain estates in South Caboolture and Morayfield via dual reticulation.

Dual reticulation is when a property has two sets of pipes: one for drinking water and one for recycled water. Recycled water pipes are coloured purple and all recycled water fixtures must be clearly marked with ‘no drinking’, ‘recycled water’ or ‘not potable’ signs.

Future Class A+ recycled water connections

There are currently no further plans to connect residential properties to our recycled water network.

Residential approved uses

The table below lists approved uses for Class A+ recycled water. Please note: sensible and appropriate hygiene precautions must be employed when using Class A+ recycled water around the house.

Class A+ recycled water is suitable for the following uses:

  • Gardens
  • Toilet flushing
  • Outdoor hosing and washdown
  • Open-space irrigation
  • Washing animals (except pigs)
  • Stock watering
  • Industrial purposes
  • Water features and fountains

Class A+ recycled water is NOT suitable for the following uses:

  • Drinking (humans and pigs)
  • Cooking or kitchen purposes
  • Personal washing, such as baths, showers, bidets and hand basins
  • Washing clothes
  • Indoor household cleaning
  • Filling of swimming pools or spas
  • Recreation activities involving water contact (e.g. children playing under sprinklers)
  • Fill or topping up of residential non-drinking water tanks
               

Using recycled water safely

Precautions for safe use apply when using class A+ recycled water.

These precautions include:

  • Following the Dos and Don’ts listed in the table above
  • Washing hands with soap and potable water before eating, drinking or smoking
  • Advising friends, visitors or customers of the precautions when using recycled water (i.e. the items on this page)
  • Always ensuring recycled water fixtures (taps and pipes) are coloured purple and labelled with ‘recycled water’, ‘non-potable’ or ‘not for drinking’ signs.

First aid measures

If you accidentally drink recycled water and develop any symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhoea, you should seek medical advice.

Environmental considerations

Restrict the amount used to avoid water pooling and to minimise run-off into waterways.

Like our potable water supplies, recycled water is a precious resource. Please use recycled water wisely.
