Unitywater acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we operate – the Kabi Kabi, Jinibara, and Turrbal peoples.
We recognise their significant contributions to the conservation of our environment and their deep connection to the land and waters.
We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and acknowledge the important role all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples continue to play within our communities.
Our six key areas of diverse representation
Our focus at Unitywater is to bring a gender balance to our workforce where all team members have access to the same rewards, resources and opportunities regardless of gender. We have several initiatives that contribute to gender equity such as: an inclusive parental leave program, hybrid and flexible working, a continued commitment to closing the gender pay gap, and a dedicated leadership program focused on supporting women, their leaders and sponsors with the tools, strategies and networks to achieve their career ambitions and challenge biases and beliefs which impact success.
We also have a Gender Equity Network (GEN) that facilitates open dialogue and collaboration, allowing members to identify and address challenges faced by individuals of all genders. Through knowledge-sharing, awareness, and advocacy initiatives, GEN aims to equip members with the tools, resources, and support needed to advocate for themselves and others effectively.
We are proud to be recognized as an employer of choice for women by WORK180.
Recognition and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the world’s oldest living culture is paramount to the way we work. Unitywater’s vision for reconciliation is to honour and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia’s First Nations through collaborative partnerships, integrating their knowledge, empowering First Nations communities, and increasing their cultural capabilities.
Unitywater’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) outlines our commitment to reconciliation through key actions that will be taken over the next two years. Learn more about our RAP here.
We support First Nations team members through the First Nations Network. This network serves as a platform for input and feedback on initiatives that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander self-determination. It also provides a safe and inclusive space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees to connect, share stories, and strengthen relationships.
We recognise that the needs of each member of our workforce vary throughout different stages of life. The needs of team members constantly evolve as people get older and circumstances change.
Life stage diversity highlights that different stages of life bring both new opportunities and challenges such as: younger people starting their careers, managing family and caring responsibilities, further education, career transitions, managing health and wellbeing, natural life changes such as menopause etc.
