Helping us share our messages

We have reignited our community partnership with elite netballers Sunshine Coast Lightning to spread some important messages about choosing to drink water from the tap and reduce single-use plastics.

The Lightning team are excellent role models within our community, and as locals, help us by championing the health of our region and its waterways.

This year we encouraged fans to bring their favourite reusable water bottles to the Sunshine Coast Lightning home games and come and see us at our Water on Tap van.

Choose tap to stay healthy and hydrated

Our mission this year is to encourage our community to stay hydrated with water from the tap, by using refillable water bottles, and reducing single-use plastic bottles. Choosing water from the tap is cheaper and better for our environment including the precious waterways that we are surrounded by in our region.

On average, a plastic bottle of water costs $4 for 1 litre, compared to 1000 litres of tap water for the same cost!

Our Water on Tap van can be booked for events to hydrate your guests and reduce single-use plastic water bottles.

Gear up for the Unitywater Lightning Cup

The Unitywater Lightning Cup is a primary school netball competition, being held on Friday 23 August 2024 in Maroochydore. 

This year marks the third Unitywater Lightning Cup carnival, an all-day competition allowing kids to play netball in a fun and inclusive environment.

Registrations to compete for the three cups have closed, but registrations have recently opened for students with different physical, cognitive or intellectual abilities who'd like to get involved and participate in a multi-class clinic on the day. Email the Lightning team to register.  

Last year Siena Catholic College took out the Championship. We are looking forward to this year’s event – and hope to see you there!
