During wet weather
Check our water outage map
If you have no water, check our water outage map to see if your property is impacted and when water is expected to be restored.
Low water pressure
Due to current wet weather and power outages, some of our water booster pumps have lost power, which can result in lower-than-normal water pressure. We are working to restore power to these pumps as soon as possible.
Help prevent any overflows in your home
- If your toilet or drains are making gurgling noises, place a sandbag over your shower drain and a brick on your toilet lid to help prevent overflows inside your home.
- Your house has an overflow relief gully (ORG) that is designed to prevent your house flooding with wastewater. The ORG looks like a grate and can be found on the ground outside your property - sometimes near your laundry door. Please ensure it is not covered or blocked. Find out more.
If sewage is overflowing inside your house
- Avoid contact with sewage or dirty water.
- Contact your insurance company as they can provide practical assistance on the clean-up and damages.
Retain your stored water
We recommend keeping any stored water until the risk of temporary disruption to the water network has passed.

Only flush toilet paper
Please don't flush paper towels or tissues
We know there may be some toilet paper shortages, but please remember to only flush the three P’s - pee, poo and (toilet) paper.
If you need to use paper towels or tissues, please put them in the bin rather than flushing. These items can easily cause blockages, damage your plumbing and create serious issues at our wastewater treatment plants. Your help in this will keep everything running smoothly!
Once wet weather has passed
Report overflows and dislodged maintenance hole lids
With heavy rainfall expected the stormwater and wastewater systems may become overwhelmed, causing maintenance lids to lift and overflow into the streets. These lids are designed to do this, but it's important to stay safe and stay away from overflows. Please report these online so our crews can respond as soon as it is safe to do so.
Discoloured water is common after an outage
If you are experiencing discoloured water after an outage, please run the outside tap closest to your water meter until the water runs clear (for up to five minutes of flushing). Alternatively, you can run the outside tap at the back of your property until the water is clear (for up to five minutes of flushing). To find out more, please visit our website. If the water does not clear after flushing, please report it online.
Please wait to backwash your pool
If you have a pool, please consider waiting at least 24 hours after the rain has stopped to backwash it to allow the wastewater system time to process all the excess water.
