The utility has been ranked number one for pay equity by Work180, a platform focused on improving workplace gender equality and diversity, and has topped the list in the mining, resources and energy industry.

It also ranked eleventh when it came to paid parental leave.

People Culture and Safety Executive Manager Kenan Hibberd said the utility’s diversity and inclusion initiatives focused on attracting and retaining women and providing opportunities for women’s development.

“We are very proud we no longer have a gender pay gap for women at Unitywater and have pay equity in like-for-like roles,” he said.

“We have a number of initiatives, including our own women’s development program, which has seen 45 leaders take part in unconscious bias training.

“It’s also encouraging to have high numbers of women in senior leadership and people management roles at 42% and 44% respectively.”

Mr Hibberd said Unitywater’s Healthy Families Program provided 20 weeks of parental leave fully paid for the primary carer and four weeks for the secondary carer.

“We are committed to gender equality across our organisation and this is just one of the ways we support growing families at Unitywater,” he said.

“We also provide superannuation payments on parental leave and a return-to-work payment to help with the transition back to the workplace.”

Unitywater has been an endorsed employer with Work180 since 2018.
