Unitywater Executive Manager Customer Experience, Katherine Gee, said more than 704 new applications have moved through from the portal’s streamlined process in its first four weeks of operation.

“After 18 months of planning, building and testing, it’s great to see our customers and team embrace the Development Portal and have an easier user experience on both sides of the process,” said Ms Gee.

“We acknowledged that our previous application process was highly manual and paper-based, wasn’t giving our development customers they type of experience we wanted them to have, and committed to delivering a better solution.

“Involving the development industry through the design process was important to us and the outcome, with interactive workshops with industry bodies helping refine some of the supporting processes and test functionality as the portal was built.”

The Development Portal enables an end-to-end online application process that includes secure payment, with transparency of application status for all parties, including visibility for developers of inputs being contributed by their consultants.

“We’re now confidently delivering a faster and simpler experience for developers, which is increasingly important with our region set to welcome more than 500,000 additional community members over the next 20 years,” said Ms Gee.

“Across South East Queensland, 865 new houses need to be built each week to accommodate the future population, with each needing to be connected to essential water and wastewater networks.”

Those residential customers will also experiencing improved usability of the Unitywater account management portal, MyAccount, following a series of enhancements that went live in recent weeks.

“In response to customer feedback, we’ve made it faster and simpler for customers to register, log in, and pay their Unitywater bill online while keeping the portal secure,” said Ms Gee.

“Investors with multiple properties can now also view and manage all of their accounts in a single profile.”

Unitywater customers are now able to sign up for MyAccount using an email address or Google account, and can now enable a trusted mobile device or passkey to log in faster, with added security.
