The utility recently submitted the RAP to Reconciliation Australia to advance its commitment to reconciliation.
Unitywater Executive Manager Customer Delivery and RAP Executive Sponsor Rhett Duncan said Unitywater had a number of initiatives to support this year’s NRW theme, ‘Be a Voice for Generations’.
“Our Executive Leadership Team recently completed Cultural Capability Training which has deepened our understanding and appreciation of our First Nation’s cultures and histories,” Mr Duncan said.
We are committed to embedding meaningful change into our organisation by expanding our training for all team members and incorporating cultural heritage inductions for our field teams and project crews to identify and preserve our cultural history. This has become part of our daily activities - especially considering our growing region.
“Unitywater recognises the ongoing importance of reconciliation beyond National Reconciliation Week and is committed to continuing our work towards creating a more just and equitable society for all Australians.
“While we have a way to go on our reconciliation journey, we recognise National Reconciliation Week as an opportunity to take meaningful action toward a reconciled Australia.”
Mr Duncan encouraged all Australians to be a voice for generations and to take action towards reconciliation in their own lives and communities.
“Let's work together towards a brighter future for all Australians,” he said.
