Smooth your bill into more manageable payments

Smoothpay makes budgeting for your bills easy by allowing you to even out your payments across the year by paying smaller amounts more frequently, fortnightly or monthly.

Smoothing your payments helps reduce the impact of seasonal water use and paying large bill amounts.

It's an interest-free plan with no additional fees or charges, plus it allows you to pay off existing debt of up to $500.

The graphs below show how smoothing your bill can help you manage your budget. If your water and sewerage bills totalled $1560 last year, then your Smoothpay payments would be $130 per month or $60 per fortnight for this year.

More about Smoothpay

Smoothpay is available if:

  • you are the registered property owner or have full authority on a water and sewerage account

  • you have registered and logged in to My Account

  • you have less than $500 owing on your account.

New water and sewerage customers must have at least one bill to be able to work out an average to set up Smoothpay.

You cannot set up Smoothpay if:

  • your account has more than $500 overdue and is under recovery action

  • there is a restrictor installed on your property

  • you have a current payment plan or Direct Debit arrangement on your account

  • your property is for sale.

Smoothpay is not available for the payment of other types of Unitywater accounts (including general sundry accounts for water carriers, metered hydrant standpipes and other services). However, customers with these accounts may still use any one of the other convenient payment options listed on their Unitywater bill.

  1. Login to My Account

  2. Go to the 'My Payments' page.

  3. Click on the orange 'Change' button in the 'Smoothpay details' box.

  4. Then click on the orange 'Change payment plan' button in the pop up window.

  5. You will be prompted to go through the process of setting up your Smoothpay payments by credit card again - please remember to add your new expiry date.

If you need help with the steps above, please call our Customer Service team on 1300 086 489 on weekdays from 8am - 5pm.

Setting up your Smoothpay as a direct debit is a great way to ensure your bills are paid on time, every time. This will make your Smoothpay more convenient for you and can save you time. Once set up, your payments will be made automatically from your nominated bank account or credit card.

If you don't choose direct debit, please ensure you stick to your payment amounts and frequency of payments (fortnightly or monthly) on your Smoothpay plan. The best way to do this is to set up regular BPAY payments through your bank.
